Fırının Kapağını Kapatmak

Closing the Kiln Door

Gözünüz yan kulvara kaydığı an, elinizdeki çamur merkezinden kaçar, dağılır. Sadece kendi önündeki işe odaklanmak, elinden gelenin en iyisini ortaya koymak zorundasın.

"Ben elimden gelenin en iyisini yaptım. Hakkını verdim. Gerisi artık ateşin işi."

Sonra o an gelir: Form tamamlanır, fırının kapağı kapanır.

Let’s set aside those noisy lanes where life constantly rushes us, and everyone is caught in an invisible race with one another. I am talking about shutting out the external noise and focusing solely on what is right in front of us, on our own path. Yet, this does not mean "giving up" or stepping aside to remain passive. On the contrary; it is about doing something with utmost seriousness, with your entire being and dedication, and then completely releasing the outcome. It is, in the truest sense, a state of surrender (tevekkül / acceptance).

I experience the most tangible form of this feeling in the studio, when I am left alone with the clay. You cannot be lazy when working with clay. You must do justice to the material; you focus on the form with the highest attention, with all your strength, and with that profound seriousness and labor. You don't look at what someone else has made, or how fast the person at the next workbench is producing. The moment your eyes wander to the neighboring lane, the clay in your hands loses its center and falls apart. You have to focus solely on the work in front of you, putting forth your absolute best.

"I did my best. I did it justice. The rest is now up to the fire."

Then that moment comes: the form is complete, and the kiln door is closed. This is precisely where that great dedication transforms into complete surrender. Once that door is closed, there is nothing left for you to do. You cannot intervene in the thousand-degree fire inside, the chemistry, or the inherent nature of the material. You cannot guide it even by a millimeter, nor can you force the outcome. The moment that door closes, a deep peace settles within you.

Moving through life at your own rhythm is exactly this: the courage to close the kiln door. When you look to your own path and simply do your best without competing with others, whatever is meant to be will be when that door opens again. Even if the result turns out differently than you planned or imagined, you know that what emerges is the truest, most authentic part of your journey at that moment. For life finds its own rhythm only when we dedicate ourselves fully and surrender the rest.
